Biography

Punk, committed, proud of their Celtic roots and fans of the Boston Red Sox (baseball) and Boston Bruins (ice hockey), Dropkick Murphys are a genre unto themselves. Their career began in 1996, and their debut album Do or Die dates from 1998. At first, their fame was strongly regional and tied to Irish traditions. Dropkick Murphys regularly perform on St. Patrick's Day, Ireland's legendary patron saint. At No. 20 on the Billboard charts, The Meanest of Times (2007) shows that Dropkick Murphys have more than anecdotal talent. Live on Lansdowne, Boston MA, released in March 2010, largely confirms Dropkick Murphys' reputation as a furious live act. Signed and Sealed in Blood in 2013 once again delights fans of the restless Bostonians. The departure of bagpiper Scruffy Wallace in 2015 doesn't interrupt the Celtic punks' wild ride, and in 2017 they find themselves far from their Boston lair, in El Paso, Texas. Drawing on their punk, rock, Celtic and folk roots, Dropkick Murphys continue to fill stadiums with every tour following albums 11 Short Stories of Pain & Glory (2017), Turn Up That Dial (2021), This Machin Still Kill Fascits (2022), Okemah Rising (2023) and For the People (2025).
