Biography
Flatfoot 56, formed in 2000 by brothers Tobin, Justin, and Kyle Bawinkel, is an American Celtic punk band from Chicago, Illinois. Known for their use of Scottish Highland bagpipes, the group released their debut studio album, Rumble of 56, in 2002, followed by Waves of War in 2003, which featured the popular track âThat's OKâ. Their third album, Knuckles Up, was released in 2004 and subsequently re-released through Flicker Records in 2006. Their subsequent albums include Jungle of the Midwest Sea (2007) and Black Thorn (2010). The latter debuted at number 2 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and number 160 on the Billboard 200, and its single, âCourageâ, was nominated for a Chicago/Midwest Emmy Award. Their later albums include Toil (2012), released on Paper + Plastick, and Odd Boat (2017) on Sailor's Grave Records. Their discography also includes the EP The Vancouver Sessions (2018) and a 2022 split EP with The Rumjacks. The band signed with Pirates Press Records on June 4, 2026.
