Biography

Blood or Whiskey, a folk punk band from Leixlip, County Kildare, Ireland, was formed in 1993 by Barney Murray, Kevin Murray, and Colm Gallagher. The group added Pat Gallagher on mandolin later that year, followed by Dugs Mulhooly on guitar, Damien Bowden on banjo, and Chris O'Meara on drums in 1994. Their first live performance took place in September 1994 at a local pub. Blood or Whiskey's album, Blood or Whiskey, was released in 1996 under Sound Records. The band continued to evolve with several lineup changes and the departure of singer Barney Murray in 2003. Their album, No Time to Explain, was released in 2001 under Reprieve Records. Despite these changes, Blood or Whiskey continued to release albums, including Cashed Out on Culture (2005) and Tell the Truth and Shame the Devil (2014).
