Biography

Screeching Weasel is an American punk rock band founded in 1986 by Ben Weasel and John Jughead in the Chicago suburb of Prospect Heights, Illinois. The group released its self-titled debut album, Screeching Weasel (1987), on Underdog Records after recording it in a single night for $200. In 1988, the band issued Boogadaboogadaboogada! on Roadkill Records, followed by a series of releases through Lookout! Records in the early 1990s, which include My Brain Hurts (1991), Wiggle (1993), Anthem for a New Tomorrow (1993), and How to Make Enemies and Irritate People (1994). Although the lineup changed frequently, Ben Weasel remained the sole constant member. In 1996, the group signed with Fat Wreck Chords to release Bark Like a Dog, which peaked at number 34 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. Subsequent albums include Television City Dream (1998), Emo (1999), Teen Punks in Heat (2000), First World Manifesto (2011), Baby Fat: Act I (2015), Some Freaks of Atavism (2020), and The Awful Disclosures of Screeching Weasel (2022).
