Biography
The Suicide Machines is an American ska punk band formed in March 1991 in Detroit, Michigan. The band initially released demos The Essential Kevorkian and Green World before signing to Hollywood Records in 1996 and releasing their debut album, Destruction by Definition. They followed with albums like Battle Hymns (1998) and Steal this Record (2001), touring extensively. After lineup changes and a move to SideOneDummy Records, they released politically charged albums such as A Match and Some Gasoline (2003). The Suicide Machines disbanded in 2006 during their tour supporting the album War Profiteering is Killing Us All. The band reunited in late 2009 for a benefit concert in Detroit, with Justin Malek replacing Dan Lukacinsky on guitar. They continued performing select reunion shows through 2011. During this period, Jay Navarro formed Break Anchor, while bassist Rich Tschirhart co-founded Bastardous with former Mest drummer Nick Gigler. In 2020, they released the album Revolution Spring, followed by a split album, Gebo Gomi, with Japanese band Coquettish in 2022. The band expanded its touring to Costa Rica, Mexico, and the United States and released the single "Never Go Quietly" in 2025.
