Milemarker, an American post-hardcore band from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, formed in 1997. The group initially gained traction within the underground music scenes of both Chapel Hill and Chicago. Their early releases included Non Plus Ultra and Future Isms, both released in 1998. Milemarker's sound evolved from experimental electronic to alternative rock, as evidenced by albums like Frigid Forms Sell (2000) and Anaesthetic (2001). Their lyrics often featured wordplay and ironic commentary on social issues. The band was also known for their side project, Challenger, which released Give People What They Want in Lethal Doses in 2004. In 2005, they released Ominosity, which showcased their heavier rock sound. Milemarker took a hiatus from 2005 to 2008 but resumed touring in Europe in 2008 and the US in 2017.
