Biography

Big Boys were an American skate-rock and hardcore punk band from Austin, Texas, formed in 1979. The original lineup included Randy “Biscuit” Turner, Tim Kerr, and Chris Gates. The group is recognized for integrating funk elements into the hardcore punk scene, helping to pioneer the funk metal genre. Their debut EP, “Frat Cars” (1980), was followed by a split live album with the Dicks and the studio release Where's My Towel / Industry Standard (1981). Other releases include the albums Lullabies Help the Brain Grow (1983) and No Matter How Long the Line at the Cafeteria, There's Always a Seat! (1985). Big Boys disbanded in 1984. Turner died in 2005, and Tim Kerr was inducted into the Texas Music Hall of Fame in 1996.
