Biography

Mephiskapheles, an American ska band from New York City, was formed in 1989 by Brendan Tween and Mikal Reich. Initially named Skatterbrains, they changed their name to Mephiskapheles after discovering another band with the same name. Their debut performance took place on January 3, 1991. The band released its first recording, The DEMOn, a four-song cassette that included "Doomsday" and became popular on radio stations. In 1994, Mephiskapheles released their debut album, God Bless Satan. The band's video for "Doomsday" received airplay on MTV. Mephiskapheles toured extensively through the U.S. and Europe. Their second album, Maximum Perversion, was released that same year. The band's lineup underwent significant changes by 1999, leading to the release of their album, Might-Ay White-Ay. Mephiskapheles initially disbanded in 2001 without an official announcement.
