Biography

The Scofflaws, a third-wave ska band from Huntington, Long Island, New York, debuted in 1988. Initially performing as the New Bohemians, they regrouped under The Scofflaws after selling their previous name to Geffen Records. Their early sound blended R&B and jazz influences with original anthems like "Rudy's Back" and covers of eclectic songs. The band released their self-titled debut album, The Scofflaws, in 1991 on Moon Records, followed by Ska In Hi-Fi (1995 on Moon Ska Records), Live! Vol. 1 (1997), and Record Of Convictions (1998). They toured extensively, opening for acts like Desmond Dekker and Bad Manners. Despite not releasing new studio material since 1998, Richard "Sammy" Brooks continues to lead the band in live performances within the New York area.
