Biography

American ska punk band The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, originating from Boston, Massachusetts, formed in 1983. The group's roots lie in the early 1980s punk hardcore scene and were heavily influenced by the British 2-tone movement of the late 1970s. The band initially featured Dicky Barrett on vocals, Joe Gittleman on bass, Tim "Johnny Vegas" Burton on saxophone, Nate Albert on guitar, Josh Dalsimer on drums, Tim Bridwell on trumpet, and Ben Carr as a non-musical performer. Their debut album, Devil's Night Out, was released in 1989. The band gained significant attention with their 1997 album Let's Face It, which sold over two million copies. Notable singles from this period include "The Impression That I Get" which shot to the top of the charts, and "Wrong Thing Right Then". In 2003, the group announced an indefinite hiatus but reunited in 2007 for a series of concerts and studio work. Their final album, When God Was Great, was released in 2021 and the group officially disbanded in January 2022.
