Biography

The Pietasters, an eight-piece ska/soul band from Washington, D.C., formed in 1990 when Stephen Jackson and Chris Watt met at Virginia Tech. Their first record, The Pietasters, also known as Piestomp, was recorded with the help of a local bar manager. In 1995, they released Oolooloo on Moon Ska Records and began touring extensively. The Pietasters signed with Hellcat Records in 1997, releasing their album Willis, produced by Brett Gurewitz of Epitaph Records. Notable songs from this period include "Out All Night" and "Stone Feeling". They toured widely, appearing on the Warped Tour and opening for acts like The Ramones and Bad Brains. In 1999, they released Awesome Mix Tape #6. The band continued to tour and record, releasing Turbo in 2002 following the death of former bassist Todd Eckhardt.
