Biography

Frenzal Rhomb is an Australian punk band formed in Sydney in 1992, led by vocalist Jason Whalley, guitarist Lindsay McDougall, drummer Gordon Forman and bassist Michael Dallinger. The group began with a self‑released EP Dick Sandwich in 1994, followed by the single "Sorry About the Ruse" the same year, establishing a reputation for provocative imagery and outspoken lyrics. Their debut studio album, Coughing Up a Storm, arrived in 1995 under Shock Records, and the band released a series of albums through the 1990s, including Not So Tough Now (1996), Meet the Family (1997), and A Man's Not a Camel (1999); the latter peaked at number 11 on the ARIA Albums Chart. In 2000, Shut Your Mouth was issued by Epic Records, and the band signed with Epitaph Records in 2001. Subsequent releases Sans Souci (2003), Forever Malcolm Young (2006), Smoko at the Pet Food Factory (2011), Hi‑Vis High Tea (2017), and The Cup of Pestilence (2023) expanded their catalog, with Smoko at the Pet Food Factory reaching number 14 on the ARIA chart. Frenzal Rhomb has toured internationally, supported major punk acts, and maintained a consistent presence in the Australian punk scene, with multiple albums entering the ARIA top 20 and receiving critical recognition for their energetic performances and persistent touring schedule.
