Cadaver, a Norwegian death metal band from Fredrikstad and Råde, was formed in 1988 with Ole Bjerkebakke on vocals and drums and Anders "Neddo" Odden on guitar. The duo released their first demo, Into the Outside, in November 1988 to find a bassist, leading to René Jansen joining the band. Their breakthrough came with the demo Abnormal Deformity (1989), which caught the attention of Bill Steer from Carcass, resulting in a deal with Necrosis Records. Cadaver's debut album, Hallucinating Anxiety, was released in 1990 and sold approximately 10,000 units. The band's second album, ...In Pains (1992), followed, selling around 25,000 copies. After a series of notable performances with bands like Mayhem and Cradle of Filth, Cadaver disbanded in 1993. Odden revived the project as Cadaver Inc. in 1999, releasing Discipline (2001) under Earache Records and Necrosis (2004) under Candlelight Records before disbanding again in September 2004.
