The German death metal band Morgoth formed in Meschede, West Germany, in 1985 under the name Exterminator. The group released two EPs, Resurrection Absurd (1989) and The Eternal Fall (1990), after signing with Century Media Records. Their debut album, Cursed (1991), marked their breakthrough into international markets. In 1993, Morgoth released their second studio album, Odium. The band's lineup evolved over the years, notably adding Sebastian Swart on bass and later incorporating industrial elements into their music with albums like Feel Sorry for the Fanatic (1996). Despite critical acclaim from some quarters, this shift alienated many fans. Morgoth disbanded in 1998 but reunited in 2010 for a series of festival shows to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Cursed. During their reunion, they released the live album and DVD Cursed to Live (2012) and the studio album Ungod (2015). The band announced their final disbandment in 2020.
