Demolition Hammer, an American thrash metal band from the Bronx, New York, was formed in 1986 by bassist and lead vocalist Steve Reynolds, guitarist James Reilly, and drummer John Salerno. Their first demo tape, Skull Fracturing Nightmare, released in 1988, gained attention from fans and independent record labels. The band's second demo, Necrology (1989), secured them a recording contract with Century Media Records. In 1990, Demolition Hammer released their debut album, Tortured Existence. They followed up with the critically acclaimed Epidemic of Violence in 1992. Their third studio album, Time Bomb, was released in 1994 but featured a slower groove metal style that led to the departure of both Reilly and drummer Vinny Daze. Demolition Hammer disbanded in 1995 following their final show at Milwaukee MetalFest. The band reunited as a touring act in 2016 with new drummer Angel Cotte, playing at the Maryland Deathfest.
