Biography

Disharmonic Orchestra, an Austrian death metal/grindcore band, was formed in Klagenfurt in 1987. The group initially recorded two demos, The Unequalled Visual Response Mechanism and Requiem for the Forest, before securing a deal with Nuclear Blast following a gig in Germany with Pungent Stench in 1989. Their first release under this label was a split EP with Pungent Stench. Disharmonic Orchestra went on to release two full-length albums, Expositionsprophylaxe (1990) and Not To Be Undimensional Conscious (1992), before signing with Steamhammer for their third album, Pleasuredome (1993). The band took a hiatus in 1994, returning in 2002 to release the studio album Ahead. In October 2016, they released Fear of Angst, and in January 2023, they compiled early demos, EPs, and unreleased recordings into Repulsive Overtones? 1988-1989.
