Biography

Death make no secret of the fact that they are one of the pioneers of death metal, as well as one of the most outstanding examples of the genre. Formed by guitarist Chuck Schuldiner in 1983 in Orlando, Florida, Death made their debut in 1987 with the impressive Scream Bloody Gore. A victim, as it should be, of incessant personnel changes, Death was slow to establish its style. Their fourth album, Human, in 1991, established their reputation once and for all, and Death became a benchmark in the genre. Their success continued to grow until 1998's The Sound of Perseverance, interrupted only by the death of Chuck Schuldiner on December 13, 2001.
