Biography

"The most influential band to come out of Liverpool since The Beatles", as they like to declare, Carcass are indeed the instigators of grindcore and pioneers of melodic death metal with Heartwork in 1993. Formed on the shores of the Mersey in 1985, the quartet sowed desolation as early as 1988 with Reek of Putrefaction, making them a proponent of grindcore. After Symphonies of Sickness (1989) and Necroticism - Descanting the Insalubrious (1991), which established their reputation, Carcass switched to melodic death metal for Heartwork. Finally touched by widespread success, Carcass scuttled in mid-air in 1995, releasing Swansong posthumously in 1996. Carcass returned ten years later for a live re-formation, before releasing Surgical Steel in 2013 and the Surgical Remission EP in 2014.
