Biography

Pungent Stench, a death metal band from Vienna, Austria, was formed in 1988 by Martin Schirenc and Alex Wank. The trio, completed with Jacek Perkowski on bass, quickly gained traction after releasing their first demo tape, Mucous Secretion, in April 1988. Their breakthrough came when they signed with Nuclear Blast in 1989, leading to the release of their debut album, For God Your Soul... For Me Your Flesh, in October 1990. The band's unique blend of death metal and grindcore, along with controversial lyrics, earned them a notable place in the extreme metal scene. Pungent Stench disbanded in 1995 but reunited in 1999, releasing several albums including Ampeauty (2004) before disbanding again in 2007. Their final studio album, Smut Kingdom, was recorded in 2007 and released in May 2018.
