Biography

Monstrosity, an American death metal band from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was formed in 1990. The group initially consisted of George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher on vocals, Jon Rubin and Mark Van Erp on guitar and bass respectively, and Lee Harrison on drums. Monstrosity signed with Nuclear Blast Records and released their debut album Imperial Doom in 1992. In 1996, the band released Millennium, which featured Fisher's last performance before joining Cannibal Corpse. Jason Avery took over vocals for subsequent albums including In Dark Purity (1999) and Rise to Power (2003). The band toured extensively in Europe and South America during this period, notably performing at the Brutal Assault festival in 2009. In 2007, they released Spiritual Apocalypse, marking a significant milestone with Mike Hrubovcak on vocals. Their album, The Passage of Existence was released in 2018 and Screams from Beneath the Surface followed years later in 2026.
