Gorod, a French death metal band from Bordeaux, was formed in 1997 under the name Gorgasm. The original lineup included Benoît "Barby" Claus on bass, Matthieu Pascal and Sandrine Bourguignon on guitar and drums respectively, with Guillaume joining as vocalist shortly after. In 2004, they released their debut album Neurotripsicks under the label Deadsun Records, which was later reissued by Willowtip Records in 2005. To avoid confusion with another band of the same name, Gorgasm changed its name to Gorod. Their subsequent albums include Leading Vision, Process of a New Decline, and A Perfect Absolution. Notable songs from these releases include "Harmony in Torture" and "Thirst for Power". Gorod has toured extensively across Europe, performing at major festivals such as the Maryland Deathfest. In 2016, Metal Hammer listed Gorod among the top 10 best French metal bands. Their album The Orb was released in 2023.
