Decrepit Birth, a death metal band from Santa Cruz, California, was formed in 1995 by Matt Sotelo, Derek Boyer, and Bill Robinson. The trio aimed to blend brutal and technical death metal with influences from the Florida death metal scene of the 1990s. In 2003, Decrepit Birth released their debut album ...And Time Begins through Unique Leader Records, featuring Tim Yeung on drums. Despite production issues, the album established a strong fan base within the death metal community. The band faced lineup changes and hiatuses due to members joining other bands. In 2008, Decrepit Birth released their second album Diminishing Between Worlds, also through Unique Leader Records. This period saw significant touring, including opening for acts like The Black Dahlia Murder and Hate Eternal. In 2010, the band released Polarity through Nuclear Blast Records.
