Biography

Firebird was a British blues rock ensemble founded in 1999 by Bill Steer. The group's music departed from the style of Steer's previous work with the bands Napalm Death and Carcass. The original lineup featured Cathedral bassist Leo Smee and Spiritual Beggars drummer Ludwig Witt. The ensemble released the studio recordings Firebird (2000) and Deluxe (2001). Following lineup shifts, Steer teamed up with musicians including Tobias Nilsson and George Atlagic for the recording No. 3 (2003). Witt returned to the group for the album Hot Wings (2006). The ensemble's discography also included the albums Grand Union (2009) and Double Diamond (2011). The band announced its disbandment in April 2012, citing various factors for the decision.
