Biography

Masters of Reality is an American rock band founded in 1981 in Syracuse, New York, by Chris Goss (vocals, guitar, keyboards) and Tim Harrington (guitar). Known for their eclectic mix of hard rock, stoner rock and psychedelic blues, known as "desert rock" and influenced by 1960s bands such as Cream, other members included the latter's ex-drummer Ginger Baker between 1990 and 1993. Since 1996, Chris Goss has been the main man behind the band, along with John Leamy until 2005, when he became the only member. After the albums Masters of Reality in 1989 (produced by Rick Rubin), Sunrise on the Sufferbus (1993) and Welcome to the Western Lodge (1999), the first to be released on Goss's label, Brownhouse Recordings, the project continued with Deep in the Hole (2001), Give Us Barabbas (2004) and Pine / Cross Dover (2009). After a sixteen-year hiatus, Chris Goss returned to the spotlight with The Archer (2025).
