Biography

DNA is an electronic music duo made up of English producers Nick Batt and Neal Slateford. Specializing in the pirate lifting of pop artists into breakbeat and house music versions, in 1990 they produced a complete remake of Suzanne Vega's "Tom's Diner", transforming a humble folk song composed in 1981 into a club hit. The remix, released without the authorization of the copyright holders, was a commercial success in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. It pleased the artist so much that it was later included on his 1991 Tom's Diner Album. DNA produces a remix of Loreena McKennitt's single "The Mummers' Dance", which reaches #1 on the US Billboard charts in 1997. After the duo split up, Nick Batt went on to produce three albums by the band Goldfrapp. Neal Slateford founds the Lovehoney brand of erotic gadgets and lingerie.
