Sydney Youngblood was born on December 2, 1960 in San Antonio, Texas (USA). His real name is Sydney Ford. He grew up in a musical family and won a local singing competition at the age of six, whereupon his grandmother named him "Youngblood". At around the age of twenty, he joins the US army and serves for five years in Germany. He then began his public solo career with songs from the dance, house and pop genres. His debut album Feeling Free was released in 1989 and the first single "If Only I Could" reached number 3 in the UK, Germany and Switzerland and number 1 in Belgium. The follow-up single "Sit and Wait" also reaches the top 10 in several countries, including Austria (number 2) and Sweden (number 2), and number 2 in Germany. The track "I'd Rather Go Blind", an interpretation of the Etta James classic, also reaches the top 10 in the Billboard Dance Charts in the USA. Further studio albums are released: Passion, Grace and Serious Bass... (1991), Just the Way It Is (1993), The Hat Won't Fit (1994) and Black Magic (2014). He most recently released the album Tonight in 2018.
