Biography

Swedish pop group Yaki-Da, formed in 1994, during the height of Ace of Base's success. The project was initiated by Jonas Berggren, a member and producer of Ace of Base, who wrote the music and lyrics and produced the songs with John Ballard. Linda Schönberg and Marie Knutsen were hired as vocalists. Their debut album, Pride, released in 1994, featured the singles "Show Me Love" and "I Saw You Dancing", the latter becoming their most successful track. The album was entirely produced by Berggren, who also wrote all but two of its songs. In 1995, Yaki-Da released the mini-album Deep In the Jungle, which included the single "Pride Of Africa" and the title track "Deep in the jungle". Their second full-length album, A Small Step for Love, was published in 1999. The group's final single, "If Only The World", was released in 2000, with the group disbanding shortly after. In December 2015, Schönberg and Knutsen reunited to perform at a music festival in Moscow, Russia.
