Biography

Zaki Nassif, born on July 4, 1918, in Machghara, Lebanon, was a notable Lebanese music composer and singer. He contributed material to Radio Orient and Radio Liban in the 1950s, becoming influential among the first generation of composers for the mass audience on radio in Lebanon. Nassif's songs often carried patriotic themes, such as "Baladi Habibi" and "Ya Daya'ati." His anthem song "Rajeh Yittammar" ("Lebanon will be Rebuilt") became a staple during the civil war. In 1995, he composed an album for Fairuz titled Fairuz Chante Zaki Nassif. Nassif passed away in Beirut on March 10, 2004, from a heart attack.
