Abdel Gadir Salim, born in 1946 in Dilling, Kordofan province, Sudan, was a singer and bandleader known for his contributions to popular music from Sudan. He began his musical journey at the Institute of Drama and Music in Khartoum, initially focusing on Oud. By 1971, Salim shifted from urban-styled music to folkloristic rural tunes, drawing inspiration from traditional songs in Kordofan and Darfur. His repertoire includes politically aware pieces and love ballads. His discography includes Sounds of Kordofan (1987), Nujum Al-Lail (1989), The Merdoum Kings Play Songs of Love (1991), and Le Blues de Khartoum (1999). Salim also collaborated with Emmanuel Jal on the album Ceasefire in 2005. He represented Sudan at the qualification round of the first ABU Radio Song Festival in 2012.
