Biography

Abdel Aziz El Mubarak, born in 1951 in Wad Madani, Sudan, was a Sudanese singer. He began singing and performing as a student, later studying music at the Institute for Music and Theater at Sudan University in Khartoum. His career took off in the 1970s and 1980s, during which he released several albums, including Songs from the City (1986), Abdel Aziz El Mubarak (1987), and Straight from the Heart (1989). His notable songs include "YA A'saal", featured on the album Straight from the Heart. El Mubarak's international tours included performances at the Womad arts festival in Glastonbury, United Kingdom, in 1988. He also recorded for European and American markets and collaborated with other artists such as Abdel Karim el Kabli on compilations like The Rough Guide to the Music of North Africa. El Mubarak passed away on February 9, 2020.
