Biography

Mohamed Mounir, born on October 10, 1954, in Aswan, Egypt, is a singer and actor. Raised in Manshyat Al Nubia, he moved to Cairo due to flooding from the Aswan Dam. Mounir's musical career began at Helwan University, where he studied photography and performed at social gatherings. His professional debut was the 1977 album Alemony Eneeki on the Sonar label, following his military service. Throughout his career, Mounir has released over 20 albums, including notable works like Fi Eshg El Banat (2000) and Watan (2018). He is known for incorporating various genres into his music, such as classical Egyptian, Nubian, blues, jazz, and reggae. Mounir's lyrics often address philosophical, social, and political themes.
