Biography
Yumeko Kitaoka, born Kikuko Nakayama on 2â¯Februaryâ¯1971 in Japan, began her career as a Japanese idol and singer in the late 1980s. After completing her early training in vocal performance, she released her debut single "Kokuhaku" on 6â¯Julyâ¯1988, followed by "Mouichido Aetara" on 21â¯Juneâ¯1989, establishing her presence on the popârock scene. In 2008 she compiled her early work with the album Yumeko+Single Collection, and continued to release fullâlength records with MyKore !Lite Kitagawa Yumeko on 19â¯Mayâ¯2010 and Yumeko on 23â¯Januaryâ¯2013. Her 2011 singles, including "Koigokoro", "Akogare", and "Yume Wo Ageyou", expanded her catalogue and demonstrated her adaptability to contemporary pop trends. The midâ2010s saw the release of "Miami Gozen 5 Ji" and "IT'S-ME" on 6â¯Julyâ¯2016, further solidifying her discography. Throughout her career, Kitaoka maintained a consistent output without major label shifts or disbandments, and her releases remained within the Japanese popârock genre.
