The Vindictives is an American punk rock group from Chicago, Illinois, founded in 1991 by Joey Volino, known as Joey Vindictive. The band's initial lineup included Johnny Personality on bass, Ben Weasel and Dr. Bob on guitars, and Erik Elsewhere on drums. Their first release was the single "Basket Case" (1991). In 1992, Billy Blastoff replaced Ben Weasel on guitar and P.J. Parti replaced Erik Elsewhere on drums. The Vindictives released several EPs including The Invisible Man (1991), This Is My Face (1993) and Disturbia (1993). Their first full-length album, Leave Home, was released in 1994. The band's career spanned several albums, including Partytime for Assholes (1996) and the compilation album The Many Moods of the Vindictives (1995), before disbanding in 1996 due to Joey Vindictive's health issues. The group re-formed in 2000. Guitarist Robert "Dr. Bob" Nielsen died of a heroin overdose on February 22, 2003. After his death, the band released Muzak for Robots (2003) and Unplugged (2003).
