Biography

Avail is an American melodic hardcore band from Richmond, Virginia. Formed in 1987, the original lineup included Joe Banks, Doug Crosby, Brien Stewart, and Mikey Warstler. The band moved from Northern Virginia to Richmond in 1990, where guitarist Joe Banks teamed with vocalist Tim Barry. Their first EP, “Who's to Say What Stays the Same” (1991), was followed by the debut album Satiate (1992). Avail released six studio albums, including Dixie (1994), 4am Friday (1996), and Over the James (1998). Other records include One Wrench (2000) and Front Porch Stories (2002). The group stopped playing live shows in 2007 but resumed activity in 2019.
