Biography

The Fruit Tree Foundation was a Scottish musical project founded in 2010 by Idlewild guitarist Rod Jones and former Delgados vocalist Emma Pollock. The project aimed to raise awareness of mental health issues through art, collaborating with the Mental Health Foundation. In 2008 and 2009, Jones and Pollock curated concerts for the Scottish Mental Health Arts & Film Festival under the banner Music Like a Vitamin, featuring notable acts like Frightened Rabbit and The Twilight Sad. Following these successful events, they decided to create new music, leading to the formation of The Fruit Tree Foundation in 2010. Musicians gathered in Perthshire to write material for their debut album First Edition, released on Chemikal Underground records in June 2011.
