Alasdair Roberts, born on August 8, 1977, in Geislingen an der Steige, Germany, is a Scottish folk musician. Raised in Kilmahog, near Callander, Scotland, he began playing the guitar and writing music at an early age. In 1994, Alasdair Roberts formed Appendix Out with school friends Dave Elcock and Kenny McBride, releasing their first double single "Pissed With You/Ice Age" (1996) and later signing with Drag City Records. After three albums with Appendix Out, Roberts transitioned to a solo career in 2001 with the release of The Crook of My Arm (2001), followed by Farewell Sorrow (2003). His subsequent albums include Spoils (2009), A Wonder Working Stone (2013), and his self-titled album (2015). Known for his collaborations, Alasdair Roberts has worked with various musicians including Will Oldham, Stevie Jones, and Olivia Chaney. He has also been a member of the Furrow Collective and has contributed to projects like the Robert Tannahill Project and Revenge of the Folksingers.
