Biography

Multi-award-winning contemporary gospel singer Tasha Cobbs Leonard was born in Jesup, Georgia, on July 7, 1981. Born Natasha Tameika Cobbs, she followed in her parents' footsteps by becoming a pastor in her own right. She began her musical career in 2010 with the independent album Smile, which attracted the attention of the EMI Gospel label, which later became Motown Gospel. In 2013, the album Grace reached No. 2, then No. 1 on the gospel charts and No. 61 on the Billboard 200, giving rise to the hit "Break Every Chain" (No. 1 gospel). Winner of a Grammy Award for this performance in 2014, she continues a flourishing career paved with awards, including the Billboard Music Awards and GMA Dove Awards. In addition to several live recordings including One Place: Live (2015), in 2017 she signed the studio album Heart. Passion. Pursuit, featuring Nicki Minaj, Anna Golden, William Murphy, Jimi Cravity and Kierra Sheard. Rated #1 on the gospel charts, it reached #35 on Billboard, and was followed in 2022 by Hymns (#3 on the gospel charts). In 2023, the compilation 10 Years of Tasha summed up the singer's career.
