Biography

Born into a famous family of gospel singers, Kierra Sheard is the daughter of Karen Clark Sheard. Born in Detroit on June 20, 1987, she began singing in church at the age of five, and at nine appeared on her mother's album Finally Karen (1997), winning a Stellar Award for Best Children's Performance. In addition to singing backing vocals for her aunt Dorinda Clark-Cole and The Clark Sisters, in 2004 she released her debut album I Owe You, produced by Rodney Jenkins and others, which immediately topped the gospel charts. Bound to the EMI Gospel label, Kierra Sheard then moved into the niche of Christian R&B, resonating with her faith, her gospel influences and her taste for urban music. After the remix album Just Until... released in 2005, the singer and evangelist returned to music after her studies with This Is Me (2006), followed by Bold Right Life (2008) and a role in the film Preacher's Kid in 2010. Her next three albums, Free (2011), Graceland (2014) and Kierra (2020), again reached #1 on the gospel charts. Meanwhile, Kierra Sheard takes part in the filming of the family biopic The Clark Sisters: First Ladies of Gospel, in which she plays the role of her mother. Still very popular with the public, the singer returned in 2023 with the album All Yours, which reached No. 3 in the gospel charts.
