Biography

American gospel and R&B singer Jonathan McReynolds was born in Chicago, Illinois, on September 17, 1989. He showed a precocious gift for singing in church from an early age and learned to play the drums at the age of five, before taking up the piano three years later. While still in high school, he learned recording techniques at a workshop and began working on his first songs, including the viral hit "No Gray". His professional music career, which began in 2012 with the album Music Life, released on the Light/Entertainment One label, was immediately rewarded with #3 on the gospel charts and #98 on the Billboard 200. Three years later, he topped the gospel charts with the album Music Life: Stage Two, which also debuted at #44 on the Billboard 200, featuring collaborations with India.Arie, Derek Minor and Israel Houghton. Winner of a GMA Dove Award, the singer continued to move between gospel and R&B with the EP Sessions (2016), followed by the album Make Room (2018), which went straight to the top of the gospel charts (#97 on the Billboard 200) and earned him eight Stellar Award nominations and two Grammy Awards. Endorsed by Kirk Franklin and other stars, McReynolds becomes one of the jurors on BET's Sunday Best in 2019, and in 2020 releases the album People (#2 on the gospel charts), whose single "Moving On" wins a Grammy Award. In 2023 follows My Truth (No. 3) and in 2024 the EP of Christmas songs, Red & Green.
