Steve Lawler (born on 29 May 1973 in Birmingham, England) is a British electronic music DJ and producer. He developed an early interest in music while listening to pirate radio at sixteen, and began staging underground parties in a tunnel beneath the M42 motorway from 1990 to 1994, attracting over five hundred attendees and leading to club residencies. His first major break arrived in 1995 when DJ Jason Bye invited him to play daily at Ibizaâs Café Mambo, and in 1997 he secured a residency at Cream under Darren Hughes. In 2000 he released the single "Rise In" on Bedrock Records, which entered the UK Singles Chart at Number 50 and reached Number 15 on Billboardâs Hot Dance Music/Club Play. That year he also launched the Dark Drums mix series and the Nubreed 003 compilation for Boxed. Subsequent releases include the Lights Out series (Lights Out, Lights Out 2, Lights Out 3), the VIVa compilations, and singles such as "Andante", "Unicorn", "Femme Fatale" and "Gimme Some More". He has won several DJ Awards and received eleven nominations.
