Biography

Ben Tavera King, born in 1952 in the United States, is an American musician known for his versatility across various genres. He began gaining recognition in the 1980s and early 1990s through his releases on public radio, many of which were issued under his own labels such as Inner Ear Records and Talking Taco Music. King's compositions were featured in several PBS programs, notably Heritage and Mujeres Con SIDA. His album Themes Of Passion, composed for the PBS special Los Mineros, marked a significant milestone in his career. In 1990, Coyote Moon became his most commercially successful release, peaking at number 5 on the Billboard World Music Albums chart. Throughout his career, King showcased his proficiency on numerous stringed instruments including guitar, lute, and vihuela, contributing to a diverse discography that spans genres from Tex-Mex to new-age music.
