Oscar Jackson Jr., known as Paris, is an American rapper and record producer from San Francisco, California, born on October 29, 1967. Influenced by the Black Panthers, he gained significant attention in 1990 with the hit single "The Devil Made Me Do It" and the subsequent album The Devil Made Me Do It, originally released on Tommy Boy Records. His second album, Sleeping with the Enemy, was controversial for its content and was eventually self-released on his own label, Scarface Records, after being dropped by Tommy Boy Records and Warner Bros. Records. In 1993, Paris signed with Priority Records and released Guerrilla Funk. He later formed Guerrilla Funk Recordings in 2003, releasing politically charged albums such as Sonic Jihad and collaborating with notable artists like Public Enemy on projects including Rebirth of a Nation and Remix of a Nation. Paris continued to release music through the 2000s, addressing themes of social justice and political commentary.
