C-Bo is an American rapper from Sacramento, California. Born Shawn Thomas in 1971, he was raised in the Meadowview neighborhood and became a member of the Garden Blocc Crips. He began his recording career in 1991 and released his debut studio album, Gas Chamber, in 1993. His early recordings, including the EP âThe Autopsyâ (1994) and the album Tales from the Crypt (1995), featured morbid themes associated with the horrorcore genre. Thomas subsequently transitioned to gangsta rap, reflecting his personal experiences with street gangs. In 1998, he became the first notable rapper to be imprisoned due to his lyrical content after his song âDeadly Gameâ was used as evidence that he had violated his parole. Despite frequent legal issues, Thomas maintained a prolific recording output. His 1998 album, Til My Casket Drops, reached number 41 on the Billboard 200, marking his highest commercial chart position. His subsequent recordings included the albums Enemy of the State (2000) and The Mobfather (2003), as well as numerous collaborative projects with artists such as Brotha Lynch Hung and the group Thug Lordz.
