Snoop Dogg (born Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. on October 20, 1971) is an American rapper, singer, and actor who rose from the streets of Long Beach, California to become one of hip-hop's most iconic figures. Raised in a humble neighborhood in Long Beach, Snoop discovered his passion for rap at an early age. His big break came in the early 1990s when legendary producer Dr. Dre took him under his wing, leading to their landmark collaboration on the 1992 album The Chronic. The following year, performing under the name Snoop Doggy Dogg, he released his debut solo album Doggystyle â a cultural moment that sent shockwaves through the music world. The album shot to number one in the United States and dominated charts worldwide, cementing his status as a global superstar virtually overnight. Throughout the rest of the decade, Snoop continued to build his legacy with a string of acclaimed records, including Tha Doggfather (1996), Da Game Is To Be Sold, Not To Be Told (1998), and No Limit Top Dogg (1999). Around this time, he also simplified his stage name to Snoop Dogg. Known for his effortlessly cool style and magnetic personality, Snoop has collaborated with some of the biggest names in music, including Pharrell Williams, Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, Wiz Khalifa, and David Guetta.
