Biography

Formed in 1992 in Long Beach, California, by Ricardo Brown a.k.a. Kurupt and Delmar Arnaud a.k.a. Dat Nigga Daz or Daz Dillinger, the Tha Dogg Pound duo released their landmark gangsta rap album Dog Food three years later, on Death Row Records. The two rappers, who were spotted on the soundtrack to the 1993 film Poetic Justice, went on to pursue their respective careers following the success of the album, which reached number one on the Billboard charts, and the track "Let's Play House". They sporadically reunited on projects by 2Pac and Snoop Dogg, while Daz Dillinger, now a renowned producer, took over the reins of Death Row Records after Suge Knight's imprisonment. Their joint activity intensified over the following decade with the release of the albums Dillinger & Young Gotti (2001) and Dillinger & Young Gotti Volume 2: Tha Saga Continuez (2005) on their DPG Recordz label, followed by Cali Iz Active in 2006 and Dogg Shit in 2007. Tha Dogg Pound then released the albumsThatWas Then This Is Now (2009), 100 Wayz (2010) and Doggy Bag (2012), but failed to recapture their initial success. The compilations Tha Dogg Set (2008) and Doggy Bag (2012) retrace the various stages of their career.
