Oh Seunggeun, born Decemberâ¯20â¯1951 in Daegu, Southâ¯Korea, is a trot singer who debuted in 1979. He began his music career in 1968 at the age of 18 as one half of the duo Two Ace, formed with Hong Soonbaek. Although the duo disbanded in 1971, he returned to the music scene after completing his military service by forming the group Gold and Silver with Im Yongjae in 1974. The group's debut album produced the massive hit âTwo of Us in the Rain,â followed by another chart-topping success, âBoatwoman.â After Gold and Silver disbanded in 1980, he embarked on a solo career, though widespread recognition did not come immediately. In 1990, he released the trot album You, Me, and his career gained renewed momentum with the 2001 hit âBe Good While I'm Still Here.â He continued his success with âA Single Roseâ in 2003, which also became a fan favorite. His biggest breakthrough came in 2012 with âWhat About My Age,â a nationwide sensation that topped the charts, became one of Korea's most widely sung songs, and one that cemented his status as a staple of contemporary trot. His 1976 album Two Ace later entered the Bugs Top 100 Folk/Acoustic Albums chart in July 2026, highlighting the enduring popularity of his early work.
