Biography

Na Huna is a South Korean singer known as "The Emperor of Trot." He was born as "Choe Honggi" in the city of Busan, South Korea, on February 11, 1951. A talented vocalist at a young age, he dropped out of high school in 1964 to focus on his career. Long-Distance Road, his debut album as a crooner, was released in 1966, followed in 1969 by two albums: Love Is the Seed of Tears and I Want To See You, Dear. He was one of the most popular vocalists in South Korea during the 1970s, often battling fellow trot singer Nam Jin for chart placements and critical acclaim. Albums like 1970's Jeong Hunhui, 1972's Persimmon Tree Village, and 1977's The Way To Find You / Hold Both Hands were national hits, and he continued releasing music during the final two decades of the century, with highlights including 1982's hit single "Weed," 1984's Youth Confession, and 1999's Life. He then teamed up with Bae Jong-ok for the 2001 album Like Adam and Eve and celebrated his 40-year anniversary as a trot star with 2005's Friend - 40th Anniversary Special Album. Remaining active onstage and in the studio well into his 70s, he appeared on TV as part of 2022's Virtual Song Top Ten, which was cast in 2022, and released the compilation album Big Hit 40 Song (Na Hoon-A's All Music Collection), featuring classics like "Weed."
