Song Dae Kwan, born Song Dae Kwan on June 2, 1946, in Jeolla Province, now North Jeolla Province, Republic of Korea, was a South Korean singer known for his contributions to the K-trot genre. Raised by his mother after his father disappeared during the Korean War, Song graduated from high school in Jeonju and moved to Seoul in 1965, where he began his music career under Oasis Records.
Song Dae Kwan released his first album in 1971, but it was his 1975 album that marked a significant breakthrough. He went on to release several notable albums, including Song Dae Kwan - Song & Life (2001). Song Dae Kwan often appeared on the KBS 1TV Golden Oldies, showcasing his enduring popularity. He also collaborated with other artists, notably releasing the album Song Dae Kwan Highlight Album - Sorry to Love You album in February 2005 with the group Koyote. Song Dae Kwan's career spanned decades, and he was recognised for his cultural impact. In 2022, he was appointed as Jeonbuk's Honorary Ambassador, highlighting his influence and connection to his roots. He passed away from a heart attack on February 7, 2025, at the age of 78.
