Yoon Soo-il (윤수일), born on February 6, 1955, in Ulsan, South Korea, is a renowned singer and songwriter who shaped the sound of Korean popular music in the 1980s. Known for his dynamic rock-influenced style, Yoon achieved iconic status with his timeless hit "Apartment," a song that remains a national favorite to this day. He began his musical journey in November 1977 with Yoon Soo-il and Cotton Candy’s "I Won't Just Love", quickly gaining recognition for his distinct sound and emotive performances. His prolific career includes landmark albums such as Don’t Forget (1978), Wanderer (1980), and Fantasy Island (1985). The Yoon Soo-il Band, formed in the early 1980s, released a string of influential albums, including Apartment (1982) and Beautiful (1984), blending rock with heartfelt ballads. Throughout his career, Yoon has continuously evolved his music, releasing albums like Terminal (2008) and Parrot (2011), which showcase his enduring artistry. His later works, including the 24th album Song of Busan (2014), highlight his deep connection to his hometown and Korean culture.
