Biography

Seo Ji-o (born Seo Ok-kyung on May 11, 1971, in Gwangyang, Jeollanam-do) is a South Korean trot singer known for her powerful voice and energetic stage presence. She first gained recognition in 1991 at the MBC Riverside Song Festival, winning with the song “At the Seashore” by Song Gwang-ho. In 1993, she officially debuted as a pop idol with her first album Tiger Lady, featuring the title track “Standing Alone,” backed by strong promotion from major companies. However, due to financial hardships, she ended her early idol career and transitioned to trot in 2000, releasing hits such as "Where Could You Have Gone", "Acacia", "Hi Hi Hi", "Tightly", "Let’s Go Sing", "Hani Hani", "Dollido", and "Suri Suri Sulsul". Among these, "Dollido" became especially popular and cemented her place in the trot scene. From 2012 to 2015, she hosted the amateur singing competition show Wellbeing Narae World on Gangneung MBC, earning praise for her warm hosting style. Today, Seo Ji-o continues to enjoy a career resurgence, frequently appearing on shows like Love’s Call Center and Gayo Stage. In 2025, she released a new single "불티나".
